XRP escrow and the IMF: Old theory resurfaces with fresh claim, still no evidence

XRP escrow and the IMF: Old theory resurfaces with fresh claim, still no evidence

A crypto commentator on X has claimed that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is taking control of Ripple’s XRP escrow. Neither the IMF nor Ripple has confirmed any such arrangement. “We see the lender of last resort, The IMF, taking control of the XRP escrow. Ripple is too small to be so big to handle this by themselves,” the post read, adding that Ripple has been “invited in to the houses of power.” The post offered no documents or on-chain data to support the claim. The escrow sits on the XRP Ledger, where its balances are publicly visible, and Ripple controls its monthly releases. Similar IMF escrow claims surfaced in 2025 and were never backed by public records.
