Johnson & Johnson's TECVAYLI-DARZALEX Combo Shows Long-Term Survival Potential

(RTTNews) - Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) reported new model-based analyses from its Phase 3 MajesTEC-3 study suggesting that the combination of TECVAYLI (teclistamab-cqyv) plus DARZALEX FASPRO (daratumumab and hyaluronidase-fihj) may help improve long-term survival outcomes for patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma who have received one to three prior lines of therapy.

Multiple myeloma is a type of blood cancer that affects plasma cells in the bone marrow. While treatment options have improved in recent years, many patients eventually experience disease relapse, creating a need for therapies that can provide longer-lasting disease control.

The findings were based on additional analyses of data from the Phase 3 MajesTEC-3 trial, which evaluated TECVAYLI plus DARZALEX FASPRO against standard-of-care treatment regimens in patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma.

According to the company, statistical modeling estimated that approximately 87% of patients treated with TECVAYLI-DARZALEX FASPRO combination as early as second-line therapy could achieve a mortality risk and projected life expectancy comparable to that of the age-matched general population.

The analysis also predicted that median overall survival with the combination could be nearly four times longer than that observed with the study's standard-of-care comparator regimens, which included dexamethasone with pomalidomide or bortezomib.

A separate post-hoc analysis found that the survival benefit was driven by a 90% reduction in the risk of disease progression compared with standard care, while rates of non-relapse mortality remained similar between the treatment groups.

The new analyses will be presented at the International Myeloma Society Annual Meeting, providing additional insight into the long-term potential of the combination regimen in earlier-line treatment settings.

JNJ has traded between $175.74 and $281.07 over the past year. The stock is currently trading at $269.57, up 0.14%.
